Hair Coloring â?? Get Back your Young Looks

Janice is a mother of two and is her in mid 30s. She is very concerned about her looks and visits the gym three times a week. As a family, they move out on weekends for trekking and other adventure activities which refresh them as well as keep them physically fit. All was going fine until the last Monday when she noticed a strand of grey hair while she was getting ready to go for work. Her body always supported her young looks but her hair seemed to be giving up. Her friend quickly suggested her to go for hair coloring to conceal her grey hair. Till date she hadnâ??t had any problem related to hair loss or dandruff and all of a sudden there was this mark to tell her she was aging. She paid a visit to ascertain the effectiveness of hair color. She followed the process thoroughly and there she was sporting a new younger look as never before.

Hair coloring has been prevalent with both men and women. Today, when our work culture demands a young and smart look, even middle aged people are concerned and working on their looks. Be it hair loss treatment or dandruff cure or grey hair, people want to get rid of it, or hide it to make them look smarter and better.

Before opting for hair color it is important that you go for a skin allergy test to make sure that your skin is not affected by hair coloring chemicals. Hair coloring kit comes with three things mainly the colorant tube, developer milk and hand gloves.

Hair colorant tube contains olive oil to give it a semi solid state and make it easy in applying to the hair. It contains various hair coloring chemicals such as phenylenediamines, diaminophenols, resorcinol and ammonia. The amount of phenylenediamine and ammonia in a hair colorant tube is generally not more than 28mg per grams and 22.2mg per grams.

Developer milk is basically a liquid solution which contains hydrogen peroxide and together with the colorant forms a thick paste.

The hair colorant and developer milk are taken in adequate quantity depending upon the amount of hair. This mixture is stirred well till the time it forms a thick paste. The paste should not be made in a metallic bowl. Try using a plastic piece instead. Once the paste is ready, it should be applied to the hair. Avoid any time gap in application of the paste after it is ready. The paste should be applied to the hair while wearing hand gloves to avoid any irritation in the skin later on. Leave the paste in the hair for 45- 60 minutes and rinse the hair well to wash out the color from other parts of the scalp.

It is very important to know that hair coloring chemicals are not to be used for coloring of eyebrows and eyelashes. The chemicals in the coloring tube may be harmful for the eyes. Rinse your eye immediately if they have come in contact with the coloring material. Also, keep the tool kit away from the reach of children to avoid any misuse.

Shampoo your hair to make it look silky and smooth after you have applied the hair color. Your grey hair is going to remain colored if you apply the color in a regular manner depending upon your requirement.

The Basics of Men’s Hair Care

WHETHER itâ??s curly or straight, full or thinning, a short hairstyle or a long, flowing mane, hair plays a major part in a manâ??s appearance. So understanding basic hair care and hairstyles is an important step in the grooming process. Luckily, good hair care comes down to four simple areas: washing, conditioning, styling and protecting. Follow these simple guidelines of menâ??s grooming and hair care and look forward to maintaining a stronger, healthier head of hair over time. Washing

Regularly wash hair with a shampoo that is gentle enough for everyday use. Look for shampoos like MenScience Daily Shampoo that contain ingredients such as Panthenol and Vitamin E to strengthen and condition hair follicles.

Donâ??t overwash hair. Washing more than once a day, even with a gentle cleanser, can often stress hair follicles, causing them to weaken and break. It can also provoke an oilier scalp as your skin tries to compensate for moisture being washed away.

If your hair is very fine, or thinning, you may want to shampoo every other day to prevent stressing hair. The key is to keep hair clean and free of buildup, without damaging it.

Make sure to firmly massage shampoo into the scalp. In addition to working grime free, this also stimulates blood circulation.

After washing, rinse all traces of shampoo away with clean, cool water. A buildup of shampoo can not only cause your scalp to itch, but can also dull hair and damage it. Conditioning

Although not for every type of hair, adding a conditioner to your hair regimen can help if your hair is very dry or brittle. Conditioning helps replenish lost moisture levels and makes hair more manageable.

However, most men should not need to condition hair if they treat it gently and use effective hair products.

Too much conditioning or not rinsing conditioner completely away can create buildup and oiliness. Styling

You might not think you need it, but regular haircuts remove dead ends and stimulate healthy hair growth. And although itâ??s different for every hairstyle, opt to see a barber or stylist at least once a month.

Use products appropriate for your type of hair: oily, dry, thick, thin, thinning or curly. Ask your barber or stylist for some recommendations based on your specific hair type.

If you suffer from oily hair, the best haircut for oily hair is one that keeps hair off the forehead and back. Oily hair follicles rubbing against skin can cause acne outbreaks and irritations. For a good acne prevention treatment, try MenScienceâ??s Acne Treatment System.

Change your hairstyle from time to time. What looked good on you a few years ago might not be making the cut these days. And something as simple as a different part or trim can give you a more youthful or polished appearance instantly.

Keep any hair tools (brushes, combs, etc.) clean and replace them from time to time. Did you know that the simple act of brushing hair from forward to back can redistribute oils of the scalp and cut down on oiliness and dryness at the same time?

Menâ??s hair styles constantly change, but for men with thinning hair or dealing with hair loss, a short hairstyle might be the best bet. If you wear your hair long, be sure to keep it well-trimmed and groomed. Even if youâ??re going for an â??unkemptâ? look, hair needs to be trimmed and styled on a regular basis to look good. Protecting

Protect your scalp and hair from harsh chemicals and drying agents by rinsing your hair with cool, clean water immediately after taking a dip in the pool or ocean. This will prevent follicles from becoming dehydrated and damaged.

The sun can damage hair, too! If your hair is already thinning, or youâ??ve opted to shave your head, itâ??s imperative that you apply an effective sunscreen to avoid sun damage. Choose one that is non-greasy and fast-absorbing with an SPF of 30 or higher (like MenScienceâ??s Ti02 Sunblock SPF 30).

Wear a hat whenever youâ??ll be in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time. For more sun protection tips, see our Sun Care article at www.menscience.com.

Avoid products that contain alcohol, which can have a drying effect on scalp and follicles.

Get the Low Down on Artificial Hair

A fair number of people are suffering from some kind of hair ailment. From dandruff to head lice, from partial baldness to complete hair loss, everyone has to go through some problems sometime or the other. A lot of products are available in the market which helps in the treatment of these simple problems. If, however, you are amongst those who have unfortunately not had any good response to any kind of hair loss treatment, you may like to consider going in for artificial hair to supplement your own. Do read this article to learn more about what all products are on offer.

You can choose from any one of several kinds of hair, as outlined hereafter:

Remi Hair is natural human hair that is shaved completely from the donor’s head, and hence is a complete set of hair, cuticles et all. ‘Remi’ means all the cuticles are on one side.

It may have further varieties in the form of Single Drawn, which is hair of all sizes resulting in a pony-tail like finish, and Double Drawn, or all the hair of equal length. The latter of course is the preferred one by most clients, and is the more expensive of the two. Remi hair has further classifications in quality, and is usually available as Quality A, B and C, depending upon the length and the weave, with the former being the most superior.

Most Remi hair comes from the Indian subcontinent, where it is shaved off for religious reasons and sold by professional barbers. The other major source of human hair is China, and to a very small extent Southern Russia, where hair may sometimes be sold for profit.

Non-Remi Hair is the hair set that consists of fallen human hair, and is naturally of lesser uniformity and quality than remi. Due to the roots and tips being all mixed up, they are more difficult to maintain, and naturally cheaper. Yet the cost factor perhaps makes them the most popular. Again available in different types like Single Drawn and Double Drawn, similar quality variants like the Remi hair are available.

The next in line, cheapest, and available in the greatest variety is synthetic hair. Made of artificial fibers, they are available in weave sets or as single strands. Most dermatologists do not recommend synthetic hair, however, for the inherent problems of reactions with the skin with less than desirable consequences. As you would expect, these hair are much cheaper than natural Remi or Non-Remi hair.

There is no commercially available, authentic European hair. Period. What you get is Indian hair treated to make them more thick and soft. Indian hair, by their very nature, is more silky, thin and strong. While it is a common misconception that soft and silky hair are better, the fact of the matter is that any kind of hair can be made that way with a little specialized treatment.

Other than human hair, the hair of Yak is sometimes used where thick and wavy hair is the need of the hour, like for African hair. The hair, however, suffers from the inherent disadvantage of possibly causing infection and is best avoided.
